South Jersey Pops orchestra set for musical holiday performance at Lenape High School on Dec. 17

This year’s performance will feature classic and contemporary yuletide pieces. The Pops will also perform in Marlton on Dec. 18.

The South Jersey Pops orchestra looks to usher in a musical holiday with its “Voices of the Season” performances on Dec. 17 and Dec. 18.

This year’s performance will feature classic and contemporary yuletide pieces, with the performance on Dec. 17 also featuring the Audubon Elementary School fifth and sixth grade choruses as special guests.

Selections designed to get audiences in a festive mood include “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” “Welcome Christmas” (from “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”), Manheim Steamroller’s interpretation of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” “The Huron Carol,” and Leroy Anderson’s “A Christmas Festival,” as originally written for the Boston Pops.

“Voices of the Season” is the Pops’ second concert since handing the conductor’s baton to Robert Bradshaw, the orchestra’s new music director. Bradshaw, the founder and director of the Haddonfield School of Music, has been directing musical ensembles for 15 years.

The Pops will first present “Voices of the Season” at 3 p.m. on Dec. 17 at Lenape High School, 235 Hartford Road, Medford.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door or online at www.southjerseypops.org.

Children under 13 are free.

The orchestra will repeat the performance, without the Audubon Elementary School Chorus, at 7 p.m. on Dec. 18, this time at Marlton United Methodist Church, 2 Marlborough Road, Marlton.

As space is extremely limited for the Dec. 18 performance, so tickets must be purchased in advance. Doors open 30 minutes before each performance.

Founded in 1969, the South Jersey Pops is a 60-piece community orchestra based in Burlington County. Comprised of professional and volunteer instrumentalists, the orchestra works to bring musical entertainment to South Jersey for all ages.
