In sickness and in health: husband keeps promise to wife

On Saturday, Nov. 18, a Mt. Laurel man and his wife promised once again to love each other for better or for worse, for richer or poorer and in sickness and health. For the man, Ed Hammer, this promise has taken on a new meaning in the last few years following his wife Terry’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis in 2011.

Young Mt. Laurel actor continues to grow as a person and a performer

At 12 years old, actor and Mt. Laurel resident Courtney Chu doesn’t recognize the performer or even the person she was just one year ago. The young actor spoke with The Sun last fall when she was in Walnut Street Theatre’s production of “South Pacific,” and she recently she spoke with The Sun again about her role as the orphan July in Walnut Street’s ongoing production of “Annie.” Yet for Courtney, the similarities between last year and now stop there.

Curtain Call Performing Arts Center will debut its production of “Heathers: High School Edition” on Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. The show also runs on Dec. 2 at 7 p.m., Dec. 3 at 3 p.m., Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 9 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. All shows will take place at Harrington Middle School Theatre, 514 Mt. Laurel Road.

Lenape Regional High School District administrators praise staff for utilizing common planning time

In the time since the Lenape Regional High School District switched to its new bell schedule at the beginning of the 2015–2016 school year, district officials say students haven’t been the only ones to benefit from the change. At the district’s recent board of education meeting, officials spoke to how teachers have benefited from the schedule as well, particularly from what officials refer to as “common planning time” for educators.

Burlington County Sheriff’s Department’s 22nd annual holiday toy drive underway

Burlington County Sheriff Jean Stanfield has announced that the Burlington County Sheriff Department’s 22nd annual Toy Drive is officially underway. With the drive, residents and businesses can donate toys for children in need at any of 49 drop-off locations throughout the county. The drive will run until Sunday, Dec. 17.
