Do Something: Get into the holiday spirit with tree lightings, festivals

Haddonfield will host its tree lighting on Friday night, while Christmas Village opens at Love Park in Philadelphia.

With Thanksgiving now over, towns all across the region will be ringing the holidays this weekend. Find out which towns will be hosting holiday festivities this weekend.

Around South Jersey

  • On Saturday, HOPE Xhurch is hosting a Gingerbread House Making Party on Saturday, Nov. 25 at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $15 per family. Partake in an evening of building your very own gingerbread houses, listening to Christmas music and enjoying some good, old-fashioned, family fun.Registration at https://event-8071-ac5c.echurchevents.com/step1.
  • Also on Saturday, HOPE Church will hold its annual Christmas Tree Lighting at 6:30 p.m.The entire community is invited to come out for some good, old-fashioned Christmas fun.Be sure to bring the whole family, friends and neighbors to this free holiday celebration. The church will have an outdoor stage filled with performers, booths with fun children’s activities, including a both sponsored by the KLOVE radio station; hot chocolate, cider popcorn and cookies. Even that bearded guy in the red suit will make an appearance. The church will also host a $100 Visa giveaway contest.
  • On Sunday, Cultivate Church, located at located at 2303 E. Evesham Road, will host a Thanksgiving Leftover Lunch. Share your leftover turkey, mashed potatoes and pies from noon to 2 p.m.
  • Numerous South Jersey towns will be promoting their local businesses for Small Business Saturday. In Haddonfield, the weekend kicks off with Candlelight Shopping on Friday night from 6 to 9 p.m. The borough will also host its holiday tree lighting at 6:30 p.m. at library point. On Saturday, there will be musical performances and horse-drawn carriage rides from noon to 3 p.m. in downtown Haddonfield.   • Cherokee High School’s fall play, “White Christmas,” will open this weekend at Cherokee High School. The show will be performed on Friday and Saturday nights at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for general admission. Golden Age passes will be honored at the Nov. 25 performance.   • Those wanting to visit Santa Claus at the Cherry Hill Mall this weekend will have plenty of chances to do so. Santa will be greeting guests on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Santa’s break time will be from 1 to 2 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 2 to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. At the Jersey Shore

  • Sea Isle City will host its Holiday Extravaganza on Friday and Saturday this weekend at Excursion Park. This holiday event will feature an ice skating rink, entertainment, a Christmas parade and tree lighting on Friday and visits with Santa Claus on Saturday. Shoppers who spend $20 in Sea Isle City on Small Business Saturday will be entered into a raffle to win a big screen television.   • Stone Harbor will ring in the holidays this weekend with “It’s a Wonderful Life in Stone Harbor.” Various activities will take place throughout the weekend, including a holiday pet parade, tree lighting, a Downtown Holiday Dash Dash on Saturday, face painting, entertainment and more.   • Christmas Village at Philadelphia’s Love Park will be open to shoppers all weekend. More than 80 vendors will offer holiday gifts, ornaments, jewelry and high-quality arts and crafts at this year’s event. There will also be European foods, sweets and drinks, live entertainment and more. The village will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.   • Manayunk will wrap up Small Business Saturday on Nov. 25 with its annual tree lighting at Canal View Park. There will also be performances from Merge Dance Studio and other local groups.
