Mt. Laurel woman killed attempting to cross street in Burlington Township on Nov. 18

Officials with the Burlington Township Police Department say Brenda McNeil was crossing lanes of Mt. Holly Road when a vehicle struck her.

The following information is on file with the Burlington Township Police Department:

At approximately 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, the Burlington Township Police Department responded to the area of Mt. Holly Road (Route 541) and Elbow Lane for a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, officers say they discovered that Brenda N. McNeil, a 23-year-old female from Mt. Laurel, who police say was crossing the southbound lanes of Mt. Holly Road when she was struck by a 2017 Lexus RX 350.

Police say McNeil suffered significant injuries and was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.

According to police, the driver of the vehicle that struck McNeil remained on scene and cooperated with investigating officers.

Police say portions of southbound Mt. Holly Road and the Route 295 exit ramps for southbound Mt. Holly Road were shut down while officers conducted their investigation.

According to police, this collision is still under investigation by members of the Burlington Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit and the Burlington Township Police Department Investigations Bureau. No charges have been issued at this time.
