Harrison Township police vehicle hit as result of deer-crossing accident

A vehicle traveling on Mullica Hill Road hit a deer, crossed the centerline and collided with the police officer’s car.

On Thursday, Nov. 16, at 6:50 p.m., a Harrison Township police vehicle was involved in a crash on Mullica Hill Road, just west of Griffin Road.

According to police, Ptl. Kenneth Rodgers was traveling eastbound on Mullica Hill Road when a deer ran from the westbound shoulder of the roadway and into a vehicle traveling westbound on Mullica Hill Road. The impact with the deer and the driver’s reaction caused the vehicle to cross the centerline of the roadway and strike Rodgers’ vehicle in a head on side swipe.
