Cherry Hill Police partnering with Cherry Hill Mall for holiday shopping season

Cherry Hill Police will have uniform and plain clothes officers to deter criminal actions over the upcoming weeks.

The Cherry Hill Police Department and Cherry Hill Mall are partnering to promote a safe holiday shopping season.

The Cherry Hill Police Department will be out in force, both in uniform and in plain clothes, to help deter any criminal wrongdoing by those opportunistic thieves that thrive in crowded atmospheres. Undercover officers will look like any other shopper except they won’t be looking for this season’s “must have” toy, they will be looking to identify criminal behavior. Officers will be on patrol in the parking lots, on foot in the shopping centers and watching from surveillance cameras. Anyone thinking of coming to Cherry Hill to prey on shoppers and businesses should think twice because their intended target may actually be an officer.

The Cherry Hill Police Department wants everyone to have a safe shopping experience. It’s very easy to be distracted with the large crowds, great sales and the hustle and bustle what needs to get done, but don’t make yourself an easy target for those looking to spoil the spirit of the season. Never leave your pocketbook unattended in a stroller or on the back of a chair. Minimize any crime of opportunity by limiting the amount of cash and credit cards you carry. Don’t be distracted walking to your vehicle by talking or texting on your cell phone. Always try to walk in pairs in well-lit areas and if you are making multiple trips to your car do not leave packages or valuables in plain sight. Focus on your personal safety and stay attentive to your surroundings. If you see someone or something that looks suspicious or does not seem right, be sure to report it to mall management or the Police. Together, we can all take a part in ensuring a safe and joyous holiday season.
