U.S. Air Force veteran gets surprise welcome at Marlton’s Beeler Elementary School for Veterans Day

U.S. Air Force Major Richard Marnin stands with his wife Dana at Beeler Elementary School, where she serves as a classroom aide, during a surprise welcome home event this week. Dave Silver, pictured right, of the Operation Yellow Ribbon of South Jersey military support group, helped plan the surprise for Marnin in lead up to Veterans Day.

U.S. Air Force Maj. Richard Marnin thought he was visiting Beeler Elementary School this week to speak to students about the meaning of Veterans Day. Instead, Marnin was just the latest to receive a “rock star welcome” from the Operation Yellow Ribbon of South Jersey military support group, as students gathered outside the school to chant “welcome home” and thank Marnin for his service.

Evesham Township Police Department announces ‘Officer of the Month’ for October 2017

The Evesham Township Police Department has announced its “Officer of the Month” for October 2017 with the selection of Officer Anthony Padulese for what police say was his role in fighting off an aggressive dog to save a dying victim. According to police, Padulese has been a member of the Evesham Township Police Department for 17 years and is being commended for his “quick actions during a dangerous situation” and “commitment to making the township a safer place.”

Evesham Township holds annual Veterans Day ceremony

Evesham Township and its officials held the township’s annual Veterans Day Ceremony earlier today at the township’s Veterans Memorial Walkway in front of the Evesham Township Municipal Complex. According to township officials, Deputy Mayor Steve Zeuli provided the remarks at the event and discussed the importance of Veterans in the nation’s history. Evesham Township officials also offered their thanks to all veterans for their service.

Local election results for Evesham Township

Evesham residents went to the polls this week to vote in a contested race for members of their local board of education, in addition to voting in the races governor and other state offices. For the three seats for three-year terms on the Evesham Township School District Board of Education, unofficial results from the Burlington County Board of Elections showed incumbent Elaine Barbagiovanni win her seat for another term with 6,554 votes, along with newcomers Lea Ryan winning a seat with 6,184 votes and Janis Knoll winning a seat with 5,162 votes.

Marlton’s Promenade at Sagemore shopping center to hold annual tree lighting on Nov. 17

The Promenade at Sagemore shopping center, located on S. Route 73 in Marlton, is welcoming the holidays with what Promenade officials describe as a brighter-than-ever Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 17, from 5 to 8 p.m. Guests that visit center court that evening will be treated to entertainment that includes a special seasonal concert featuring Hotsy Totsy Gals and Dave Kelly, in addition to trolley rides, fun activities, and visits with Santa Claus.
