Sloan passed away on Nov. 5 at the age 82.
On Nov. 5, at the age of 82, a longtime Haddonfield resident who was born and raised in Margate passed away; Beloved husband of Mary (nee Kelley); Devoted father of Michael (Michele), Douglas (Lindsay) and the late Sharon E. Stewart; Loving grandfather of Sullivan, Griffin and Macklin, Devon and Ryan; Dear brother of Douglas Stewart, Andrew Stewart and Ramsey Hawkinson.
Mr. Stewart graduated from Western Maryland College where he was a standout basketball & baseball player. He had a distinguished 50-year career with Merrill Lynch, retiring as a Sr. VP. He enjoyed summering in Margate and was a member of the Margate City Beach Patrol for several years. Mr. Stewart coached Haddonfield Little League and Youth Basketball. Additionally, he was an avid golfer frequenting Tavistock and Greate Bay Country Clubs as well as a tennis player at Green Valley and Haddonfield Clubs.
Mr. Stewart’s family will receive friends on Friday, Nov. 10, 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at Christ the King R.C. Church, 200 Windsor Ave: where his Funeral Mass will follow at Noon. Interment, Calvary Cem., Cherry Hill, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sloan’s name may be made to Interfaith Caregivers, P.O. Box 186, Haddonfield, NJ 08033.
