Courtesy cards will be offered to individuals staying in member communities of the Camden County Library System.

The Camden County Library System is issuing temporary library cards to individuals that have been displaced by Hurricane Maria.
“Residents of Puerto Rico that have been displaced by the devastation left by Hurricane Maria and are staying with family or friends in Camden County are invited to use the services of the Camden County Library System,” said Freeholder Bill Moen, liaison to the Camden County Library System. “We all need to do our part to help bring a sense of normality to these individuals as they rebuild their lives. This is just one small way that we can help reach out to them by providing them access to a local library.”
The courtesy library cards will be offered to individuals staying in member communities of the Camden County Library System. The cards will be valid until Dec. 31 and can be obtained in person at any Camden County branch library. Applicants are asked to provide a photo ID showing their current address or a piece of mail containing name and current address. Applicants accompanied by Camden County residents they are staying with can also use their address to obtain a card.
“By working together, we can help to make a difference for those in need during this difficult time,” said Linda Devlin, Director of the Camden County Library System.
Hurricane Maria had a devastating effect on the island of Puerto Rico bringing winds of up to 155 miles an hour to shore and never before seen surges of seawater onto the island. Since that time, the storm has created an ever-deepening humanitarian crisis for 3.4 million U.S. citizens.
