High school sports playoff update: Cherry Hill West girls soccer advances

The Lions will battle №2 seed Mainland Regional High School in the quarterfinals of the South Jersey Group III tournament this afternoon.

Cherry Hill High School West girls soccer will continue its postseason journey this afternoon in the South Jersey Group III quarterfinals after the Lions earned an upset win on the road Tuesday.

Cherry Hill West defeated Triton, 1–0, on the road Tuesday afternoon in the first round of the South Jersey Group III tournament. A second half goal from Alivia Gallardo boosted the Lions to the victory. Michela Auguadro made six saves to preserve the shutout.

Cherry Hill West will travel to №2 Mainland Regional High School this afternoon to take on the Mustangs. The game will kick off at 2 p.m.

East girls soccer, West boys soccer fall in first round

Cherry Hill East girls soccer and Cherry Hill West boys soccer came up short in their first round playoff games earlier this week.

The Cougars were shut out on the road against Washington Township High School on Monday. The Minutemaids defeated Cherry Hill East, 2–0, with Amanda Attanasi and Giovanna Castorina scoring. Rebecca Winslow stopped 11 shots for the Cougars.

Cherry Hill West was also shut out, losing to Triton Regional High School, 6–0, on Tuesday. Three different Triton players each scored two goals in the game.

Cherry Hill East girls volleyball comes up short in first round

Cherry Hill East girls volleyball dropped its first round match in the NJSIAA Group IV tournament on Tuesday, losing to Randolph High School on the road, 2–0. Both sets were fairly close, with Randolph winning 25–19, 26–24. Cherry Hill East’s record dropped to 14–10 with the loss.
