Cherry Hill East and West preparing for start of field hockey playoffs next week

Both Cherry Hill high schools will be on the road for their opening round games.

The Cherry Hill High School East and Cherry Hill High School West field hockey teams will kick off the 2017 playoffs early next week as both teams will participate in opening round games.

The NJSIAA released the 2017 field hockey playoff brackets on Wednesday. Both Cherry Hill East and Cherry Hill West will participate in the postseason, with Cherry Hill East playing in the South Jersey Group IV playoffs and Cherry Hill West playing in the South Jersey Group III tournament.

Both teams will hit the road in the first round. The №10 seeded Cougars will travel to conference rival Washington Township High School on Tuesday to play the №7 seeded Minutemaids at 4 p.m. Cherry Hill East played a tight game against Washington Township this past Monday, losing 2–1. The winner of Tuesday’s game will play №2 Shawnee High School in the quarterfinals.

№10 seed Cherry Hill West will also play a familiar foe in the first round as they visit №7 seed Timber Creek Regional High School on Monday at 2 p.m. The Lions lost two close games against the Chargers this season, with the last meeting between the teams being a 2–1 Timber Creek win on Oct. 2. The winner of Monday’s game will visit №2 Ocean City High School in the quarterfinals.
