High School Sports Roundup: Girls Soccer bounces back, Boys Soccer on good run, and more

Girls Soccer bounced back after lopsided loss, Boys Soccer winners of their last two.

The Burlington Township Lady Falcons girls soccer team bounced back in a big way after a tough loss to end last week. Following a frustrating 3–0 division loss to Cinnaminson on Sept. 22, where they forced 14 shots on goal, Burlington Township defeated Holy Cross 1–0.

Gabriella Senni scored the game-winner for the visitors, while Kate Field was credited with the assist. Senni leads the team with five goals. The Lady Falcons are now 6–1 on the season, and hosts Steinert on Friday, Sept. 29.

Boys Soccer ‘finding their groove’ with back-to-back victories

The Burlington Township boys soccer team have had a great week, winning both of their scheduled games. The Falcons drubbed Holy Cross 6–0 with five players getting on the scoresheet.

Michael Oflazian led the way with a brace, while Michael DiSanto, Justin Giordano, Emir Selimovic, and Sukdhip Singh each scored goals. Nicholas DeLittla added two assists, while Giordano and Singh also were credited with helpers.

The Falcons continued where they left off on Monday, by trouncing Pennsauken 5–0 on Wednesday. Xavier Chiagoro, DeLitta, Giordano, Ronaldo Pickering, and Singh all got on the scoresheet. Furkan Kilic added two assists, while Cory Smith made two saves.

The Falcons (2–6–1) have a lengthy break before their next match. They travel to Rancocas Valley on Oct. 4, before hosting Delran on Oct. 6.

Field Hockey continues strong run in regular season

The Burlington Township Lady Falcons field hockey team extended their record to 7–1–1 this season with a pair of wins and a draw in their last three games.

The Lady Falcons defeated Pennsauken 3–0 on Sept. 22, before drawing 2–2 with Cherokee on Sept. 25. Katelyn Osterlind scored a pair of goals in the draw, while Gracyn Banks added two assists. Goalkeeper Haley Bucci made 13 saves for Burlington Township.

Burlington Township continued their strong run by defeating Rancocas Valley, 4–1 on Wednesday afternoon. Vanessa DiDonato scored all four goals for BT, while Bucci made 11 saves. Macie Werynski added a pair of assists, while Banks also had a helper.

The Lady Falcons are next in action on Monday, Oct. 2 at Pemberton High School with opening whistle slated for 3:45 p.m.
