Weekly Roundup: Evesham Saving Lives program extend, set for next round of road improvements

Evesham and Voorhees announce extension of free Saving Lives designated driver program

Evesham and Voorhees officials have announced another one-year extension of the free Evesham/Voorhees Saving Lives designated driver program. For nearly two years now, the program has partnered with private transportation company Uber to provide residents of Evesham, and later Voorhees, with free rides home from all of the nearly 30 bars and restaurants that serve alcohol in the two townships.

Cherokee Challenge sets pace for great season

For more than two decades, cross country runners have converged on Cherokee High School in early September to kick off the sport’s major meet season at Cherokee Challenge. This year, despite rain through the week, a picturesque day greeted thousands of high school and middle school runners on Saturday, Sept. 8, and while no records were broken, strong times were clocked and plenty of fun was had.

Lenape Regional High School District holds fundraisers to support hurricane victims

Officials with the Lenape Regional High School District are commending those at the district’s four schools who have taken the initiative to support the victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. According to the district, most of the activities have been student-driven and have quickly garnered widespread support from students, staff and community members.

Evesham Township set for next round of road improvements

Evesham Township Council approved its latest round of road improvements at a special council meeting this week. Officials say the township is set to pave and improve areas including Bon Air Drive, Sutten Court, Peabody Lane, Sedgwick Lane, Shelbourne Drive, Windsor Lane, Wellington Drive, Wessex Place, Waldorf Road, Knox Boulevard and a one-mile stretch of Kettle Run Road.

Center for the Arts in Southern New Jersey presents open juried photography exhibit in October

The Center for the Arts in Southern New Jersey is presenting its “Annual Open Juried Exhibit” from Oct. 9 through Oct. 30. This exhibit will contain photography that can be either contemporary or traditional. Varied subject matter will be accepted. Prizes will be awarded at a free exhibit reception on Oct. 18.
