High School Sports Roundup: Palmyra soccer teams remain undefeated, Football also 2–0

Girls Soccer are currently 5–0 on the season, while Boys Soccer are 6–0.

The Palmyra Lady Panthers girls soccer team remained perfect to start their season, earning their fifth win of the year.

Palmyra edged Florence 1–0 on Sept. 19 thanks to a winning goal from Julia Carducci. Jayme Livingstone was credited with the assist on the lone goal in the match.

The Lady Panthers are 5–0 on the season, and have outscored their opponents 17–4 so far. Their next game is on Sept. 22 at home against BCIT Medford at 3:45 p.m. Palmyra also travels to Collingswood on Sept. 23 for a 10 a.m. showdown.

Boys Soccer cruises past Trenton Catholic to stay unbeaten

The Palmyra Panthers boys soccer team remained unbeaten after a 7–0 thumping of Trenton Catholic on Sept. 19. Brett Maute led the way with two goals and two assists, while five other players tallied a goal. Goalkeeper Liam Brett made four saves in the clean sheet.

Palmyra leads the BCSL Patriot Division with a 6–0 record overall and a 2–0 mark in division play. Maute leads the team with five goals, while Laurenz Morris leads with six assists. Brett has 23 saves this season. Palmyra is outscoring their opponents by a combined score of 26–1.

The Panthers next travel to Pemberton on Sept. 21 for a 4 p.m. game.

Football prepares for tough showdown against New Egypt

The Palmyra Panthers football team extended their record to 2–0 on Sept. 16, rolling past Gloucester City 30–6.

Quarterback Taj Harris scored a pair of touchdowns, with one coming through the air and the other on the ground. Runningback Elijah Karnjay stole the show, rushing for 208 yards and two scores. Wide receiver Sam Aviles had 99 yards receiving on four catches, and a touchdown.

Jack Geisel’s group next faces defending Freedom Division champions, New Egypt (1–1) on Sept. 22 at 7 p.m.
