BHMS choral director and WTHS junior nominees for NJACT Perry Award honors

The awards are given annually for outstanding achievements in New Jersey Community Theater

Nancy Dickinson as Mrs. Potts in “Beauty and the Beast”

Bunker Hill Middle School choral director Nancy Dickinson and Washington Township High School junior Scott Bonerbo were among nominees in the upcoming New Jersey Association of Community Theaters Perry Awards. The awards are given annually for outstanding achievements in New Jersey Community Theater. Winners were announced on Sunday, Sept. 17.

The NJACT Perry Awards recognize outstanding achievement based on evaluations of all on-stage aspects of a performance. Two NJACT reviewers provide numerical scores for over 50 different criteria across 10 different review categories. More than 200 shows produced by theater companies around the state are submitted each year, and Perry Awards are distributed in 33 performance and technical categories. Candidates with the top seven scores in each category are considered nominees.

Washington Township High School junior Scott Bonerbo

Dickinson earned consideration for “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Musical” for her role as Mrs. Potts in “Beauty and the Beast.” Her son Jack Cecilio, who portrayed Chip in the production, is also a nominee in the category of “Outstanding Youth Actor in a Musical. Bonerbo is nominated in the same category for his work in the musical “Thirteen.
