The Pinelands Preservation Alliance to host a juried photography exhibit focused on the Pinelands National Reserve.

There will be $1,000 in cash prizes.

The Pinelands Preservation Alliance has been working with a volunteer committee composed of professional and amateur photographers to host a juried photography exhibit focused on the Pinelands National Reserve. The exhibit will hang in PPA’s newly renovated barn at its headquarters in Southampton from Nov. 4, 2017 to Jan. 3, 2018. An opening reception will be held November 4th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

“The Pinelands is a beautiful and under-appreciated area of our state. This exhibit provides a vehicle to bring people into the Pinelands and display their artistic creations of this lovely part of New Jersey. I am honored to work with the PPA to protect and highlight the Pinelands,” says Christopher Kosseff, committee chair. He continues “Some areas scream to be photographed, having towering peaks or dramatic wildlife. The Pinelands is gentle and reserved — giving the photographer the opportunity to craft a photograph that speaks to its quiet beauty.”

Another committee member, photographer and Medford resident, Patricia Worley says, “I respect the need to preserve the Pinelands and I think photography is a vital tool in conveying that message. I hope that many people take the time to visit the Pinelands and see the unique beauty we have surrounding us.”

Black and white and color images taken within the boundaries of the National Reserve depicting its landscape, flora, wildlife, communities and people will be accepted. Photographers of all skill levels are welcome to apply — $1,000 in cash prizes will be offered. The deadline for registration is September 29, 2017.
