Evesham police arrest woman on charges of filing false burglary report

Police say a woman was found to have pawned items she had reported stolen.

The following information is on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:

On Sept. 5, the Evesham Police Department arrested an Evesham woman for falsely reporting that her home was burglarized in August.

On Aug. 22, the Evesham Police Department responded to a reported home burglary in the unit block of Knoll Lane. Upon police arrival, police say the homeowner (the arrested female) advised officers that someone had broken into her home during the day and stole electronics and jewelry.

During a follow up investigation by detectives, police say it was found that the homeowner had pawned many of the items that she had reported stolen.

Arrested:

A female, age 58, of Marlton, was charged with fourth-degree filing a false police report. She was released on her own recognizance.
