Miss Hen of Camden County Poultry Pageant set for Saturday, Sept. 9

Prizes will be awarded in every category of the cock-a-doodledoo competition.

Registration will begin 10 a.m. on Sept. 9 at Dambly’s Garden Center, located at 51 West Factory Rd., Berlin, Nj. The pageant will start promptly at 11 a.m.

Customers are invited to bring caged, healthy hens to be judged in 3 categories:

  • Miss Congeniality
  • Best Feathers
  • Talent

Prizes are awarded in every category. The grand prize is one year supply of Nutrena NatureWise® Layer Feed (12 bags.)

The bird with the most points will be crowned Miss Hen of Camden County.

After the pageant, there will be three educational sessions:

  • “Ask the Chicken Vet” with Molly Hosier (VCA Maple Shade Animal Hospital)
  • “Legislation about Chicken in SJ”
  • “Winterizing Your Coop”

“Rosebud”, the Therapy Chicken, will serve as the guest of honor.

Folks who don’t have a hen to enter are welcome to come cheer on the feathered beauty queens, enjoy refreshments, snag great deals in store and learn more about backyard chickens.

Participants please RSVP to Dambly’s Garden Center by Sept. 2.
