Recreation soccer is one of the Moorestown Recreation flagship programs, and there is still room. Whether your child is in pre-k or kindergarten or grades one through six, there is a team for them. With the growth of soccer programs over the last decade, more and more children are playing. Moorestown Recreation wants every child to feel welcome and confident on the soccer field and invites novices and experienced players alike the opportunity to play. These programs are perfect for every child who wants to learn soccer and enjoy being active. In this friendly competitive environment children are encouraged to learn not only good soccer skills but good sportsmanship.

New, this fall, Moorestown Recreation will offer a pre-season basketball warm-up for all children, boys and girls in grades three through eight. This skills and drills clinic will include full court scrimmages as well. Offered by none other than Recreation Basketball Guru, Ted Flick, the pre-season warm up will run from Oct. 5 through Nov. 2.

The Girls Field Hockey Program, both recreation and limited travel, offer young women entry into this growing, competitive sport. The clinics are available to girls grades three through six. The limited travel league for grades five and six as well as seven and eight, while full offer a wait list. Led by resident and recreation’s very own, Mary Stefano and a core group of committed volunteers, this program has served as a tremendous feeder program for high school field hockey teams.

New this fall for teens 13 to 18 is the bead-a-moment class. This class will teach the basics of jewelry making and jewelry re-purposing. Bring your tired, broken, incomplete jewelry and unused beads and enjoy being part of the creative atmosphere in which new and unique pieces come to life. Colors, materials and shapes will come together like pieces of a puzzle to honor a memorable moment in life or simply to enhance that fashion ensemble. Additional favorites, like artist-in-residence Sophia Geiger’s arts and crafts and a full complement of chef Katie’s adult and child cooking classes, will fill the recreation building daily offering young and old alike the opportunity tap into their creative sides.

Fall tennis returns under the instruction of United States Professional Tennis Registry certified instructor Missy Mercer. Fall sessions are available to age group five to eight, nine to 13 and adults, but don’t think that recreation is only for kids. This fall many adult favorites like “19 to 29,” “Over-30 Basketball” and Pickleball are available. New this fall for Pickleball is a Tuesday evening program. Personal fitness classes like ‘Tumblin’ Tots’ (parent and child), yoga and boot camp are regular favorites and offer something for everyone.
