Monmouth County man arrested for sexually assaulting Cherry Hill girl

A 20-year-old man from West Long Branch was arrest on Tuesday for 22 criminal offenses, including sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

A 20-year-old man from West Long Branch was arrested on Tuesday on 22 criminal offenses, including the sexual assault of a 12-year-old Cherry Hill girl.

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office announced the arrest of 20-year-old Anthony Woods from West Long Branch on Wednesday night. Woods was charged with 22 offense, including sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The offenses occurred on multiple dates between May 1 and July 1, in Merchantville and Cherry Hill.

Police say Woods met a 12-year-old female victim over the Internet. Woods directed the exchange of sexually explicit photographs and videos with the victim. He also elicited her home address, picked her up at her residence in Cherry Hill and drove her to Merchantville where he sexually assaulted her.

Law enforcement executed two search warrants on the morning of Aug. 15 of Woods’ residence and his motor vehicle. The search warrants revealed electronic devices which were seized from his residence to be further analyzed at the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office. Woods’ motor vehicle was also seized as evidence.

Woods’ was processed and remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending centralized first appearance and the following pre-trial detention hearing in accordance with the New Jersey Bail Reform. Under recent criminal justice reform rules, the court may order Woods to be detained without bail or released with conditions.

All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
