Evesham Police arrest man suspected of fleeing scene after alleged shoplifting turned robbery

Police say the incident took place on Aug. 8 at the Kohl’s store on Route 70.

The following information is on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:

On Aug. 8, at 9:24 p.m., Evesham Police officers responded to the Kohl’s store located at 301 W Route 70 for an alleged robbery in progress.

According to police, store security reported that a male had allegedly shoplifted merchandise and threatened to stab store security with a knife when they confronted him. A description of the male and vehicle he fled in was provided to all responding units.

Police say an Evesham officer located the vehicle traveling west on Route 70 near the Camden County line. According to police, the vehicle was stopped and the driver was arrested. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, police say they discovered the alleged stolen items of clothing along with counterfeit U.S currency.

Arrested:

A male, age 51, of Burlington Township, was charged with third-degree robbery and third-degree forgery. He was lodged in the Burlington County Jail with no bail.
