Two Mt. Laurel girls reach second in nation on team in recent USLacrosse Nationals Tournament

Mt. Laurel residents Audrey Cashin, left, and Gianna Monaco, recently played in the USLacrosse Nationals Tournament in Virginia where their Ultimate Elite Lacrosse team, based in Princeton, won a silver medal for placing second in the nation. The two have played in the Mt. Laurel Lacrosse program together since first grade.

Earlier this week young Mt. Laurel residents Gianna Monaco and Audrey Cashin had the honor of being the only Mt. Laurel residents on their U13 Ultimate Elite lacrosse team, which placed second in the nation at the USLacrosse Nationals Tournament in Richmond, Va.

Harrington Middle School principal Kathleen Haines resigns to accept the Superintendent of Schools position in Clementon

Harrington Middle School principal Kathleen Haines has resigned her position with Mt. Laurel Schools effective Aug. 1 to accept the Superintendent of Schools position in Clementon in Camden County. At it’s July 25 meeting, The Mt. Laurel Schools Board of Education named Keith Land as interim principal of Harrington Middle School effective Aug. 1

Lenape High School marching band trumpets success of recent car wash fundraiser

The Lenape High School marching band parents association held a car wash fundraiser on July 29 to help raise money for the Lenape High School marching band. Members of the Mt. Laurel Fire Department did their part as well when firefighters brought Battalion Chief 3603, Ladder 3625, and Engine 3632 by the event to get their vehicles scrubbed down as well.

Three candidates running for three seats in election for Mt. Laurel Schools BOE

There are three candidates running for three seats in November’s board of education election for Mt. Laurel Schools, according to documents posted by the Burlington County Clerk’s office. Incumbent board members Christine Dickson and Margaret L Haynes, along with board vice president Diane Blair, are running unopposed.

Mt. Laurel Police officer sustains minor injury as car collides with motorcycle trying to flee

The following reports are on file with The Mt. Laurel Police Department:

At 5:22 p.m. on July 23, Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on a motorcycle on the 100 block of Willow Turn. According to police, the motorcyclist refused to stop and drove on a sidewalk in an attempt to elude the officer. Police say the motorcyclist reentered the roadway and the officer pursued it a short distance. According to police, the motorcycle and the patrol car collided on the 400 block of Willow Turn causing minor injury to the officer and the motorcyclist.
