Mt. Laurel Police officer sustains minor injury as car collides with motorcycle trying to flee

The following reports are on file with The Mt. Laurel Police Department:

At 5:22 p.m. on July 23, Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on a motorcycle on the 100 block of Willow Turn.

According to police, the motorcyclist refused to stop and drove on a sidewalk in an attempt to elude the officer.

Police say the motorcyclist reentered the roadway and the officer pursued it a short distance.

According to police, the motorcycle and the patrol car collided on the 400 block of Willow Turn causing minor injury to the officer and the motorcyclist.

Police say the motorcyclist, a male, age 24, of Mt. Laurel, was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released. The officer was treated at the scene.

According to police, the motorcyclist was charged with eluding police, assault by auto, and numerous motor vehicle violations. He was released pending a court hearing.

At 11:07 p.m. on July 27, Mt. Laurel Police stopped a suspicious male riding a bicycle on Route 73 near Rogers Walk. During the investigation, officers discovered that the bicyclist, a male, age 40, of Clementon, was wanted by the Gloucester County Sheriff Department. The male attempted to flee the officers on his bicycle, but officers stopped him and took him into custody. The man was found in possession of methamphetamines and a drug-smoking pipe. He was charged with obstructing the administration of law, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was committed to the Burlington County Jail.

At 11:45 a.m. on July 26, Mt. Laurel Police responded to the parking lot of the CVS on Route 38 for suspicious activity. During the investigation, officers arrested a female, age 52, of Mullica Hill, after they observed a drug-smoking pipe in her car. She was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and released pending a court hearing.

At 9:39 a.m. on July 25, Mt. Laurel Police responded to Target on Centeron Road for a shoplifting complaint. Officers arrested a male, age 27, of West Berlin, for stealing $175 worth of merchandise. He also had warrants for his arrest. The male was charged with shoplifting and released pending a court hearing after satisfying the warrant.

A resident of the 900 block of Harwood Court reported that her car was purposely scratched during the morning of July 24.

On July 25, a business on the 7000 block of Atrium Way reported that an employee who was terminated in March continued to use a company issued E-Z Pass until June. Charges totaled over $300.

At 9:49 a.m. on July 24, Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 38 near Marter Avenue. During the stop, officers arrested Lawrence Byrd, age 49, of Philadelphia. He was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and released pending a court hearing.
