It is with great excitement and anticipation I welcome The Mullica Hill Sun weekly newspaper to our community.
The Sun is published by the Newspaper Media Group for individual towns in Camden, Burlington and Gloucester counties, and we now join Washington Township as a Gloucester County community with this exclusive periodical. The Mullica Hill Sun is a free newspaper that will be delivered to every household in the community on a weekly basis. It will provide news, stories and information of specific interest to our residents, much of which will be homegrown. There will also be an online version available.
I have no doubt The Sun will be a great resource in keeping you all connected to things happening on a local level.
I am also excited to say I’ve been asked to write a weekly column called the “Mayor’s Message” which will serve as another touch-point in our efforts to communicate with our residents. We continually add to those options since we know how busy life is in a community such as ours. As a reminder, everyone can access the township website (www.harrisontwp.us) where they can find information about pending projects and development, meeting minutes and agendas and “The Mayor’s Corner,” which contains a history of articles and interviews over the last several years. Many of you have chosen to be on the township email list to receive weekly “What’s Happening” emails, and we recently launched a township Facebook page as another line of communication. There’s also the “Mayor Minutes,” which is now emailed each month, as well as the “Ask the Mayor” tab on the website or Facebook Page where you can get a direct response to a specific question or comment.
On behalf of Deputy Mayor Dennis Clowney and Committeemen Vince Gangemi, Sr., Don Heim and Jeff Jacques, I wish you all a great second half to your summer. Your township committee is looking forward to the realization of several projects in the coming months. You’ll see the liquor store begin construction at the entrance to the Mullica Commons shopping center and the Dunkin Donuts break ground at Route 45 and Cohawkin/Cedar Road. The conversion/expansion of Naples Ristorante will move forward soon, transforming it to a liquor-serving establishment on Main Street in Mullica Hill, the first since prohibition. The project providing sidewalk connectivity from the Mullica Hill Plaza (Shop Rite center) to Main St. and down to the pond will commence shortly…especially appreciated since not a penny of our tax dollars will be for construction.
Life is good in Mullica Hill and bringing our community closer together only makes it better. See you around town.
