Paul Levesque and Valerie Schwing, both single residents at The Evergreens in Moorestown, said it was fate that led to their friendship. After several chance encounters at the continuing care retirement community, the two residents became close friends. When they decided to marry, residents and staff recently helped them plan a ceremony to take place on The Evergreens campus on Saturday, June 24.

Paul and Valerie were married in The Evergreens Chapel by the Reverend Martin B. Lavengood, chaplain of the community, in the presence of family, friends, residents and staff of The Evergreens. After the ceremony, the newlyweds invited all residents and guests to the main dining room for a formal brunch prepared by Certified Executive Chef Robert Rifkin and his culinary team. Guests were also treated to a champagne and wine toast and wedding cake.

After brunch Paul, Val, family and friends moved to the great hall for dancing with music provided by a live jazz duo.

“It was so special for us to celebrate with our family and friends, and with all our ‘extended family’ at The Evergreens, too,” Schwing said. “Everything came together so perfectly, and all our guests were so impressed that we had such a beautiful wedding venue, and we just so happen to live there.”
