Taste of Korea cultural event at Mt. Laurel Library on Aug. 6

The Mt. Laurel Library will host a “Taste of Korea” cultural event at the Mt. Laurel Library on Aug. 6 from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. for adults ages 18 and up. This event will be run by the Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project, which is set to demonstrate cooking techniques and discuss the history and culture of Korea.

Friends of Mt. Laurel Library next book and media sale to run July 26 through July 29

The Friends of the Mt. Laurel Library’s next “Bargain Book & Media Sale” will take place at the Mt. Laurel Library starting Wednesday, July 26, through Saturday, July 29. Members of the Friends are invited to the special “preview night” on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Mt. Laurel Council considers changes to ordinance governing towing services contracted by township

Mt. Laurel Council is considering updates to the ordinance governing the towing services the township utilizes. Under the current ordinance, towing services can pay a fee to the municipality and join a list of 10 light-duty and heavy-duty vehicle-towing services designated by the township per year. According to acting township manager Meredith Tomczyk, the police department has requested the township increase the number of designated towing services to 15 so additional assistance is available if needed.

Camp Lenape 2017 freshman transition camp set for Aug. 7 through Aug. 9

All incoming members of the Lenape High School Class of 2021 are invited to attend the Camp Lenape 2017 freshman transition camp from Aug. 7 through Aug. 9. According to officials with Lenape High School, Camp Lenape offers incoming students an “outstanding opportunity” to learn more about their new school, as well as learning more about themselves and their classmates. The camp has a $25 fee, with the school accepting cash or check.

Rowan College at Burlington County Board of Trustees welcomes new Alumni Trustee

The Rowan College at Burlington County (RCBC) Board of Trustees recently welcomed May 2017 graduate Cassadie Hynd as an Alumni Trustee, marking the first time a 3+1 student has been appointed to the board. This spring, RCBC became the first community college in this region of the country to offer junior-year courses as part of its 3+1 program.
