“Paint the Town Pink” Breast Cancer Awareness

For the seventh year, Cinnaminson Township will hold their breast cancer awareness program.

The Cinnaminson Fire Department Breast Cancer Awareness Committee is pleased to announce this year’s “Paint the Town Pink” campaign. 2017 marks the seventh year that their department will be raising funds and awareness for breast cancer. Last year was their most successful year, raising $8,600. This year, their goal is to raise at least $10,000.

The funds raised will go towards two foundations that are near and dear to their members. The first foundation is Virtua’s Tyanna Barre O’Brien Breast Care Comfort Fund, which helps breast cancer patients obtain items not readily available to them without financial assistance.

This foundation has been supported since our first year of raising funds. Their business administrator, Jean Dietrick, is a breast cancer survivor and has supported this foundation for many years.

The second foundation is the Rebecca A. Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund, which helps local paramedics obtain scholarships to assist with their training. Rebecca “Becky” Scott was a local paramedic with Virtua who often worked with our members at emergency scenes. Becky unfortunately passed away from breast and liver cancer at the young age of 28. This will be our second year supporting this foundation.

The committee is asking the residents and business owners of Cinnaminson to join them in painting the town pink. We want to see pink lights and bows displayed on houses and businesses, as well as shirts and pins worn proudly throughout the month of October. All of these items will be available at our events. $10,000 is an ambitious goal, but we are confident that the goal can be reached thanks to the great support of our wonderful community.
