Burlington Township Youth Academy helping educate the community

Most kids on summer break spend time at the pool, hang out with friends and play sports. However, in Burlington Township, a large number of kids participated in the 2nd Annual Youth Police, Fire and EMS Academy on July 14. Fifty-six kids between the ages of 9 and 14 participated in the academy, which is led each night by a different part of the community’s departments. A graduation ceremony at Burlington Township High School on July 14, concluded the week-long academy.

“Bringing Nature Home” Music and Craft Fest coming this August

Would you like to help stop species extinction? Join Friends of Rancocas Nature Center, along with Festival Sponsor — the Native Plant Society of NJ as they host the “Bringing Nature Home Music & Craft Festival” to honor the work of noted entomologist and author, Dr. Doug Tallamy. This event will take place on Sunday, Aug. 27, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine, at Rancocas State Park Fairgrounds, on Rancocas Road in Westampton, NJ (East of the Westampton Municipal Building).

Astronomy Night coming to Rancocas Nature Center on August 18.

Just three days before this decade’s “complete solar eclipse”, Friends of Rancocas Nature Center will co-host with West Jersey Astronomical Society for its Third Star Watch/Astronomy Night on Friday, Aug 18, 2017. Starting at 7:30 p.m., there will be an indoor demonstration before heading out to the Meadow. WJAS will bring its big array of telescopes and other optics to guide beginners and experienced star gazers through the summer night sky.
