Moorestown home invasion results in stabbing

A Moorestown resident stabbed two alleged home invaders following a struggle during the early hours of Sunday, July 9.

The following is an update on the Moorestown death investigation, according to a statement issued on the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office Facebook page:

Moorestown police were called to a residence on the 700 block of Hartford Road on Sunday, July 9 around midnight on a report of a home invasion. When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive adult male in the home who was later pronounced dead at the scene from apparent stab wounds.

The resident who made the call indicated to responding police officers that two men had broken into his home. A struggle had ensued, and he stabbed them both.

Detectives are investigating whether a man who arrived at Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County in Willingboro later in the morning with a stab wound to the leg is connected to this incident.

The investigation is ongoing, and as of this time, no charges have been filed. Investigators are withholding the name of the decedent until his identification has been officially established. An autopsy is pending.

The case is being investigated by detectives from the Moorestown Police Department and the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office. Officers from the Cinnaminson, Delran, Maple Shade and Mount Laurel police departments also responded to the call.
