Obituary: Rebecca C. Gibbs

Rebecca C. Gibbs of Elkins Park, Pa., formerly of Moorestown, passed away on June 30, at Holy Redeemer Hospital in Meadowbrook with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Kane, Pa., the eldest daughter of Eulalia (Manno) Feikls of Kane and the late Henry P. Feikls.

She was a graduate of Kane Area Senior High School and Penn State University and began her teaching career in Delaware. She later became a technical training consultant for GE and Tri-Log. She enjoyed working as a substitute teacher at the Moorestown Senior High School for many years.

Becky had an adventurous spirit and loved traveling, skiing, hiking, going to the beach and renovating her home. Her creative talents included gardening, sewing, knitting, cooking and entertaining, and she was a member of the knitting club in Moorestown. Most of all, Becky was dedicated to her family and enjoyed planning family parties and get-togethers.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 35 years, Philip Gibbs and her son, the Rev. Alex Gibbs, parochial vicar of St. Mary Magdalen Parish in Media, Pa. Her siblings include a sister, Diana Stricker and husband Sam of East Haven, Conn. as well as three brothers: Thomas Feikls and wife Carol of Malibu, Calif.; Joseph and wife Josie of Kane, Pa.; and Henry Feikls Jr. of Ludlow, Pa. Nephews and nieces include Mark Stricker and his wife Allyson and their children Tristan and Sawyer, of Bethany, Conn.; Justin and John Feikls of Kane, Pa. and Emily and Mason Feikls of Ludlow. Her nephew Ross Feikls passed away in 1997. She is also survived by her friend, Lori Heim; two aunts Virginia Manno and Joyce Feikls; two uncles Eugene Manno, and Tom Oliver and numerous cousins, including Rosemary Hobbs and her daughter Heather. Survivors also include step-family relatives.

In addition to her father and nephew Ross, she was preceded in death by two sisters-in-laws Julie Feikls and Kathy Feikls; and by several aunts and uncles.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Mary Magdalen Church. 2400 N. Providence Rd. in Media, Pa. Visitation was held at the church on Wednesday, July 6 evening from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

Burial will be on Saturday, July 8 at 11 a.m. at St. Callistus Cemetery in Kane, Pa.
