Charlotte F. Gillespie (nee Fletcher) of Moorestown passed away on Friday, June 23 at the age of 84. Charlotte was the beloved wife of George Gillespie and loving mother of Rebecca Weiford (Richard), Patricia Guignard (Francois), Andrew Gillespie (Renita) and Joseph Gillespie. Charlotte was also the dear grandmother of Mark and Lauren Gillespie.
Charlotte and her husband, George, were American Baptist missionaries in India for 20 years. She went on to be editor/program associate for the national organization of the American Baptist Women, and after that, associate director of public relations for International Ministries of the American Baptist Churches USA.
She was actively involved in the First Baptist Church of Moorestown where she enjoyed singing in the choir, the auxiliary of the Baptist Home of South Jersey, the Friends Enrichment Program and Church Women United of Moorestown.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Memorial Service on Thursday, July 6 at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Moorestown at 19 W. Main Street in Moorestown. Her urn will be buried in the church cemetery immediately following the service, and the family will greet friends in Fellowship Hall following the burial.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Charlotte’s memory to Samaritan Hospice at 5 Eves Drive Suite 300, Marlton N.J. 08053.
