Awarding the spirit of volunteerism

Julia Bersani, of Haddonfield, was awarded a scholarship from the Kennedy Health Care Health Foundation for her work as an outstanding junior volunteer.

Three South Jersey high school seniors pursuing college educations were recently awarded scholarships from the Kennedy Health Care Health Foundation. Julia Bersani, of Haddonfield, was awarded a $1,000 scholarship as an outstanding junior volunteer. Bersani, who had volunteered at Kennedy University Hospital — Cherry Hill since 2013, is a Haddonfield High School graduate planning to attend Duquesne University in Pittsburgh to pursue a six-year doctoral degree in occupational therapy.

Also awarded were Nadia Fedoryka of Sewell, a 2017 graduate of Clearview Regional High School, and Brooke Spontak of Woodbury Heights, a graduate of Gateway Regional High School. Each received a $1,000 Sanderson Memorial Scholarship, presented in memory of the late Sarah Sanderson, an original Kennedy Board Member and notable journalist. The Scholarship is open each year to two eligible dependent children of regular full- or part-time Kennedy associates. Fedoryka will attend Rutgers Honors College in New Brunswick studying biology and genetics. Spontak will attend Rutgers University in New Brunswick studying biology.
