Summer concerts return to Mt. Laurel starting July 6

Mt. Laurel Township and the Mt. Laurel Library will sponsor a series of free summer concerts through July and into August.

It’s officially summertime in Mt. Laurel, and once again this year residents will have plenty of ways to keep entertained and beat the heat.

Mt. Laurel Township and the Mt. Laurel Library are once again joining forces to sponsor a series of free summer concerts through July and into August where residents can kick back and enjoy live music.

First up in this year’s series is The Golden Eagle Community Band on Thursday, July 6, at the Mt. Laurel Community Center from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Based out of Mt. Holly, The Golden Eagle Community Band will bring residents a mix of semi-professional and amateur musicians from throughout the Delaware Valley to play a wide range of songs from genres such as rock, big bands, Dixieland and more.

Performing next in the series on Thursday, July 13 will be The Jersey Boomers, who will take the stage at Laurel Acres Park from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. With a band of three musicians and singers, The Jersey Boomers will perform a mix of folk and rock music from the 50s, 60s and 70s.

The tunes continue at Laurel Acres Park on July 21 with Smoked Ice from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. With six members and decades of experience between them, the band will sing and perform songs from genres such as oldies, Motown, the British Invasion, classic rock and more.

The series closes out the month of July with Tequila Rose on July 27 at the Mt. Laurel Community Center from 6:30 to 8 p.m. With vocals, guitar, harmonica, bass and drums, the band will play new country hits, along with some classics from country and rock.

The summer concert series moves into August with FabForward on Aug. 3 at the Mt. Laurel Community Center from 6:30 to 8 p.m. This tribute band plays works from the solo careers of the four former members of The Beatles, with songs by Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr all at the same concert.

Concluding this year’s summer concert series at the Mt. Laurel Community Center on Aug. 10 will be Bobby Block. From 6:30 to 8 p.m., locals can listen to big band and contemporary music performed during the final concert of the series.
