Brooke Mulford was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at the age of 4, and after a courageous eight-year battle, the 12-year-old Voorhees resident passed away on June 12. Osage Elementary School teachers, staff and student body came together to honor the former student on Friday, creating an “Osage Loves Brooke” message on the school fence, similar to the one created in February 2016 to support Brooke in her fight against cancer.

Eastern’s Davis Schneider drafted in MLB

Eastern Regional High School senior Davis Schneider was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the MLB Draft’s 28th round, making him the 849th pick of the draft. Schneider, committed to Rutgers University, was one of Eastern’s leading hitters during the 2017 season.

Shoes, shoes and more shoes

Two local groups collected shoes for a cause this past spring, and both fundraisers were huge successes. Osage Elementary School students brought in more than 1,100 pairs of shoes for Soles4Souls. At the Voorhees Animal Orphanage, a partnership with Funds2Orgs brought in more than 5,500 pairs of shoes, which will translate to cash for the shelter.
