Weekly Roundup: Lenape holds Academic Hall of Fame, local rescue provides dogs for new program

The Mt. Laurel Historical Society is also set to hold open houses on second Sunday of each month this summer.

This week a graduation was held for some dogs from Mt. Laurel’s One Love Animal Rescue that were provided to inmates at the Camden County Correctional Facility for veteran adoption in new program, Lenape High School inducted four new members into the school’s Academic Hall of Fame and more. Veterans will soon find four-legged friends, and dogs will find forever homes as part of a new pilot program in Camden County that has inmates train dogs from rescues in Voorhees and Mt. Laurel as companion dogs for veterans. Camden County officials this week held a graduation ceremony at the Camden County Correctional Facility that saw three dogs graduate from the first class of the program after having undergone companion training with inmates at the corrections facility for the last three months.

Lenape High School inducts four members into school’s Academic Hall of Fame

Four new faces joined the walls at Lenape High School this week with the newest inductees to the Lenape High School Academic Hall of Fame. Barry Croll (Class of 1966), Patricia Friel (Class of 1977), Michael Borneo (Class of 1996) and Rob Nelson (Class of 1996) were honored with a brief induction ceremony and dinner, along with individual plaques now adorning the walls at the school describing the inductees’ accomplishments in life.

Mt. Laurel Historical Society to hold open houses on second Sunday of each month this summer

The Mt. Laurel Historical Society is set to hold multiple open house events this summer on the second Sunday of each month. Events are currently scheduled for June 11, July 9, Aug. 13 and Sept. 10 from 1 to 4 pm. at the historical Farmers Hall. Farmers Hall is located at the intersection of Moorestown-Mt. Laurel Road and Hainesport-Mt. Laurel Road.

Lenape High School teacher charged with making upskirt videos of students

Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina and Medford Township Police Chief Richard Meder announced this week that a Lenape High School teacher has been arrested for capturing upskirt videos and photos of female students in his classroom and the school’s hallways. Eric Howell, 43, of the first block of Dogwood Court in Maple Shade, was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child (second degree), one count of official misconduct (second degree) and four counts of invasion of privacy (third degree).

Mt. Laurel Police say hotel guests leave without paying, arrested when returning for belongings

The following report is on file with the Mt. Laurel Police Department:

Mt. Laurel Police announced in their latest Mt. Laurel Police report, that at 7:14 p.m. on May 14, Mt. Laurel Police responded to a hotel on the 500 block of Fellowship Road for a theft of services report. According to police, the hotel manager reported that two guests left the hotel without paying for their stay, and they had also left their belongings behind. At 4 p.m. on May 18, police say the suspects returned to the hotel to claim their belongings, at which time police arrested them.
