Mt. Laurel Police say hotel guests leave without paying, arrested when returning for belongings

The following reports are on file with the Mt. Laurel Police Department:

At 7:14 p.m. on May 14, Mt. Laurel Police responded to a hotel on the 500 block of Fellowship Road for a theft of services report.

According to police, the hotel manager reported that two guests left the hotel without paying for their stay, and they had also left their belongings behind.

Police say investigating officers found a fictitious driver’s license and fictitious traveler’s checks.

At 4 p.m. on May 18, police say the suspects returned to the hotel to claim their belongings.

According to police, officers responded to the hotel and arrested a male, age 31, of Pine Hill and a female, age 30, of Sicklerville.

Police say the male was charged with possession of 26 fraudulent travelers checks and possession of a false government identification, and the duo also had warrants for their arrest out of other jurisdictions.

According to police, the two were released after satisfying their warrants.

At 9:37 p.m. on May 25, Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Ark Road near Stratton Way. During the stop, officers arrested a male, age 25, of Mt. Laurel. He was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and released pending a court hearing.

At 1:35 p.m. on May 25, Mt. Laurel Police responded to a motor vehicle crash on Creek Road near I295. The investigation revealed that a crash occurred on I295 and the two drivers involved in the crash exited onto Creek Road. They then got into an argument and one driver assaulted the other. No injuries were reported and the victim did not wish to pursue the matter.

A victim reported that their white and light blue, 2015 KTM 500 XC off-road motorcycle was stolen from the parking lot of 6300 Preston Way between May 24 and May 25.

At 12:33 p.m. on May 24, a suspect entered Mt. Laurel Bagels on Union Mill Road and stole a tip jar from the store counter. The jar contained approximately $50. The suspect was described as a thin male wearing all black. Police say two females in a white, two-door car, may have accompanied the suspect.

At 2:14 p.m. on May 22, Mt. Laurel Police responded to a hotel on the 900 block of Route 73 for a motor vehicle crash in the parking lot. During the investigation, officers arrested a male, age 62, of Magnolia. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.

At 9:57 p.m. on May 21, Mt. Laurel Police were at a hotel on the 900 block of Route 73 conducting an unrelated investigation when hotel management advised them of a credit card fraud in progress. The investigation led to the arrest of a female hotel guest, age 23, of Philadelphia. She was using fictitious credit card numbers to purchase gift cards and attempted to use the gift cards to pay for her room. She was charged with credit card fraud, possession of a fictitious driver’s license, possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released pending a court hearing.

At 11:58 a.m. on May 21, Mt. Laurel Police responded to Home Depot on Nixon Drive for a shoplifting complaint. Officers arrested a male, age 37, of Pemberton, for shoplifting $221 worth of merchandise. He was charged with shoplifting and committed to the Burlington County Jail.

A guest of a hotel on the 500 block of Diemer Drive reported a silver 2013 enclosed cargo trailer containing $30,000 worth of lawn care equipment was stolen. The theft occurred during the overnight hours of May 19 into May 20.

At 3:34 p.m on May 19, Mt. Laurel Police responded to Home Depot on Nixon Drive for a shoplifting complaint. Officers arrested a female, age 49, of Mt. Laurel, for shoplifting $26.33 worth of merchandise. She was charged with shoplifting and released pending a court hearing.

At 5:32 p.m. on May 16, Mt. Laurel Police responded to Best Buy for a shoplifting complaint. Officers arrested a female, age 23, of Delanco, for attempting to steal $59.99 worth of merchandise. She was charged with shoplifting and released pending a court hearing.

At 5:38 p.m. on May 12, Mt. Laurel Police responded to Home Depot on Nixon Drive for a shoplifting complaint. Officers arrested a male, age 22, of Mt. Laurel, for shoplifting $29.97 worth of merchandise. He was charged with shoplifting and released pending a court hearing.

A resident of the 600 block of Hartford Road reported that she was carjacked at 3 a.m. on May 12. The victim reported that she had just arrived at her residence and was walking to the door when two masked men attacked her from behind. She was struck in the face and her keys, cell phone and wristlet were stolen. The suspects stole the victim’s car and were seen traveling north on Hartford Road. At 6:15 p.m. the stolen vehicle was located in Camden City unoccupied. The investigation is ongoing.

At 7 a.m. on May 10, Mt. Laurel Police responded to the Dunkin Donuts on the 800 block of Route 73 for an unconscious female in the restroom. Arriving officers located a 35-year-old female suffering from a heroin overdose. Officers administered Narcan to reverse the overdose, and the woman was transported to the hospital by Mt. Laurel EMS for further treatment.

On May 5, Laurel Acres Park was vandalized. Trash cans throughout the park were emptied and trash strewn about. A lighting control box was damaged and a portable toilet was overturned. Sand was poured into the toilets of the restroom facilities and fixtures were ripped from the walls. Damage was estimated at $2000.
