Two Cherokee High School seniors named Olympic Conference Scholar Athletes

Cherokee High School has announced that Jamie Bowne and Brendan Connolly were named Olympic Conference Scholar Athletes.

Cherokee High School has announced that Jamie Bowne and Brendan Connolly, both seniors, were named Olympic Conference Scholar Athletes.

Bowne and Connolly recently attended a banquet with all Olympic Conference recipients from their respective schools.

According to Cherokee, the two students exemplify true Cherokee Pride both in and out of the classroom.

Bowne has been a four-year varsity swimmer who won the 100 fly at the South Jersey Invitational all four years. She also won the 500 free and 200 free two times throughout her careers at the Invitational. Bowne will leave Cherokee holding school records in six events; three as an individual and three as a member of a relay team. She has made the All-South Jersey Team and has also been a finalist at the Meet of Champions all four years.

This year Bowne was named Burlington County Swimmer

of the Year. Bowne is a member of the National Honor Society, Portuguese Club, GSA, and SMAC.

She also volunteers at the Burlington County Teen Line and Animal Welfare Association. Academically, Bowne has a weighted GPA of 5.47 and is ranked 33rd in a class of 567. Bowne will be attending The College of New Jersey in the fall where she will continue her swimming career and will be majoring in nursing.

Connolly is a two sports athlete playing soccer and basketball all four years and a starter on both varsity teams his senior year. In soccer, Connolly earned All-Olympic American Conference second team honors.

In basketball, Connolly served as a team captain who helped lead this year’s team to a Co-Conference Championship and to the South Jersey Group IV Finals.

Connolly is a member of Student Council, Renaissance, Spanish Club, and the Marlton Sports Unity Club, which helps children with special needs participate in sports. Academically, Connolly has a weighted GPA of 5.71 and is ranked 16th in a class of 567. Connolly will be attending Notre Dame University in the fall where he will be majoring in physics.
