High school sports playoff update: Cherry Hill East boys lacrosse, Cherry Hill West softball to begin playoffs this week.

Both teams will open the 2017 playoffs on the road as high school spring sports postseason heats up.

Cherry Hill High School East boys lacrosse and Cherry Hill High School West softball will begin their 2017 postseasons later this week as both were seeded into their respective playoff brackets on Monday morning.

Cherry Hill East boys lacrosse is the №13 seed in the South Jersey Group IV playoffs. The Cougars will hit the road on Wednesday to visit №4 seed Freehold Township in the opening round of the playoffs. The Cougars currently have a record of 5–8

Cherry Hill West softball is the №14 seed in the South Jersey Group III playoffs, slated to begin late this week. The Lions will visit №3 seed Delsea Regional High School in the opening round of the playoffs. Cherry Hill West enters the playoffs with a 5–12 record.

Boys tennis playoff update

Cherry Hill West boys tennis was eliminated in the first round of the South Jersey Group III playoffs last Friday, as the Lions lost to Highland Regional High School, 4–1.

Stanley Fong earned the Lions’ only point with a 6–2, 6–3 win at first singles over Highland’s Gabriel Velasquez. Highland won all four of the other matches in straight sets.

Cherry Hill East boys tennis will kick off its postseason later this after. The №1 seeded Cougars will host №8 seed Atlantic City High School in the South Jersey Group IV quarterfinals at 3 p.m. today. Cherry Hill East received a bye in the opening round of the playoffs.
