Weekly Roundup: Cherokee to debut spring musical, Evesham Council looks to meet with BOE over SRO’s

This year’s Taste of Evesham event is also set to return on May 21.

Cherokee High School is set to debut this year’s spring musical in “Anything Goes” on May 19, this week members of Evesham Council said council should meet with members of the BOE to discuss the School Resource Office Program and the Taste of Evesham is ready to return on May 21. Cherokee High School set to debut spring musical with ‘Anything Goes’ on May 19

Pretty soon it’ll be anything goes at Cherokee High School as Cherokee Drama prepares to perform this year’s spring musical “Anything Goes.” Debuting in 1934, “Anything Goes” combines high-energy music, dance, romance and comedy aboard an ocean liner in the 1930s as characters find themselves dealing with new love, unwanted impending marriages, old friends, disguised identities, criminal pasts and more as they make their way toward London.

Evesham Council looks to meet with BOE to resolve funding for school resource officers

Evesham Township Council hopes to have some members of council meet with members of the Board of Education before the end of the school year to determine if the two groups can reach a consensus on funding the district’s school resource officer program for next school year. Members of council discussed the issue at their meeting this week as they commented on the BOE’s recent decision to include $250,000 toward the program in the district’s 2017–2018 budget.

Evesham Police say camera catches home healthcare worker allegedly stealing money and medications

The following information is on file with the Evesham Township Police Department:

On May 6, the Evesham Police Department responded to a home in the 200 block of Lakeshore Drive for a report of a home healthcare provider who police say was allegedly caught on camera stealing cash and medications from the victim’s residence. According to police, surveillance footage provided to officers showed the home healthcare provider allegedly stealing money from the patient’s wallet and prescription pills from her medication containers.

Taste of Evesham returns to Main Street Sunday, May 21

The annual Taste of Evesham event will return to Main Street in Evesham on Sunday, May 21, from 1 to 4 p.m. Prices for the event are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 4 to 12 and free entrance for children ages 3 and under. Adults who wish to partake in beer and wine selections, in addition to food, can enter for $15.

Lenape Regional High School District BOE honors volunteer service award recipients

Volunteerism was the theme at this week’s Lenape Regional High School District Board of Education meeting as the board honored the recipients of this year’s volunteer service awards. This year’s student award winners included Cherokee High School senior Avi Patel, Lenape High School junior Meghan Vizzard, Seneca High School senior Cole Zink and Shawnee High School senior Gianna Glatz.
