Haddonfield Public Library to present “ON POINT: Where Technology Meets the Arts.”

This outdoor concert will take place on Saturday, June 17 at 7 p.m. in front of the library and is free and open to the public.

Thanks to a grant from Rotary District 7640 and the Rotary Club of Haddonfield, Symphony in C is partnering with the recently renovated Haddonfield Public Library to present “ON POINT: Where Technology Meets the Arts.”

This outdoor concert will take place on Saturday, June 17 at 7 p.m. in front of the library and is free and open to the public. The concert will showcase the library’s new technology and connect it to human creativity through a performance of contemporary music that combines traditional acoustic instruments, electric instruments and computer generated sounds and effects that blends art and technology.

The library will hold an open house before and after the concert. As a further demonstration of its exciting new capabilities, the library also plans to live stream the concert on its website. Folding chairs will be set up in front of the library with room for blankets in front. Vendors will be on hand to provide refreshments. The event’s rain date is Thursday, June 2 at 7 p.m.

The program will include performances of “Fade for Oboe and Tape” by Charles Peck with Jaclyn Moore on oboe, “Breakaway for Two Trumpets and Electronics” by David Sampson with Joseph Hart and Paul Futer on trumpets,and “Electric String Quartet plays ROCK!” by the Volume Quartet featuring current members and alumni of Symphony in C.

Symphony in C is one of three professional training orchestras in the United States preparing musicians and conductors who are on the cusp of world-class careers through concert, educational outreach and professional development programs.

Performing at the Gordon Theater at Rutgers Camden Center for the Arts in Camden, Symphony in C serves more than 90,000 people annually through its critically-acclaimed concert series, educational outreach programs and radio broadcasts. Symphony in C has been designated a “Major Arts Institution” by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, and their goal is to continue making artistic, educational and economic impact on a regional, national and global scale.
