Letter to the Editor: Camp David’s history — no presidential summer getaway

I scratched my head while reading your opinion piece “Presidential summer getaways”. It is simply incorrect that past Presidents have used Camp David as a “summer getaway”. Maybe you believe President Trump should spend his summers there, but previous presidents did not hang out at Camp David during the summer.

President Obama spent most of his summers at Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts or on Hawaii in December. During the 2012 election year while he was campaigning he and Michelle spent a “long weekend” at Camp David in July. That’s it. President George W. Bush spent his summers at his Crawford Texas ranch. President Clinton also spent his summers on Martha’s Vineyard. George H.W. Bush summered at his Maine compound and Ronald Regan on his California’s ranch. It looks like your opinion piece is based on no facts. Some might say it’s “fake”.
