BTPD narcotics raid results in arrests and firearm recovery

On Thursday, May 4, a narcotics raid took place at Salem Road apartment complex in Burlington Township.

On Thursday, May 4, the Burlington Township Police Department and the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force executed a mid-afternoon narcotics raid within an apartment complex located at 1701 Salem Road in Burlington Township. The raid targeted an apartment in the E Building and was the product of an investigation between both agencies.

Just prior to the raid being executed, members of the Burlington Township Police Department Patrol Bureau attempted to stop three male subjects that were observed exiting the target apartment.

One juvenile male subject was immediately detained and found to be in possession of two small baggies of marijuana. The other two subjects fled on foot. During the ensuing foot chase, one subject discarded a defaced .22 caliber revolver, and the other subject discarded a large sandwich bag of marijuana that was packaged for sale. Both subjects were successfully apprehended, and the discarded firearm and marijuana were recovered.

Henry Hartsfield-Cason, a 21 year old male of Burlington Township, was charged with possession of a firearm, possession of a defaced firearm, possession of a firearm during a CDS Offense, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and resisting rrrest by flight. He was sent to Burlington County Jail.

Dasher Cason, an 18 year old male of Willingboro, was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and resisting arrest by flight. Cason was sent to Burlington County Jail. A 16 year-old juvenile male of Burlington Township was charged with simple possession of marijuana under 50g and obstruction. He was released to his parents.

Once the raid was executed on the target apartment, officers detained two additional subjects and seized additional marijuana, scales, packaging material and various other items of drug paraphernalia.

Niasia Heath, a 20 year old female of Burlington Township, was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and sent to Burlington County Jail. Thaddeaus Cason, a 20 year old male of Burlington City, was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute. He was also sent to Burlington County Jail.

The Burlington Township Police Department acknowledged New Jersey State Police TEAMS Unit, the New Jersey State Police Canine Unit, the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns & Narcotics Task Force and the Burlington City Police Department for the assistance they provided during the operation.
