Council passes two ordinances appropriating money from budget

Also, ceremony held to swear in three new officers

The Medford Township Council unanimously passed two ordinances Tuesday, May 2. The first allows for the appropriation of $1,432,450 for utility improvements in the township. The second allows for the appropriation of $3,692,900 to be used for capital projects included in the 2017 budget. Some of the items that will be financed include a computer server, police vehicle, fire command vehicle, drainage improvements and the 2017 Road Program.

“This is for improvements to utilities such as water mains, equipment and replacing the township’s Mufflin Monster,” Mayor Charles Watson said in regard to the first ordinance. “This is all being done out of the operating budget as opposed to using bonds.”
