Lightbridge Academy to hold free Earth Day and grand opening for children and families on April 22

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., families can see a tree planting, meet ‘Mr. Earthly,’ listen to stories, tour police and firetrucks and more.

The Lightbridge Academy early childcare center, 4518 Church Road, is now open for business and celebrating Earth Day on April 22 with free activities for children and families.

Kicking off the day’s events from 10 to 10:30 a.m. will be a ribbon cutting and planting of a tree with Mt. Laurel Deputy Mayor Rich Van Noord, members of the Burlington County Chamber of Commerce, Lightbridge Academy owners and staff, and community leaders from South Jersey businesses who played a role in developing the project.

Also taking place from 10 to 11 a.m. will be photo opportunities for children with “Mr. Earthly,” a character greeter

From 11 a.m. to noon, kids can listen to classroom adventure stories with author Don Dougherty, as well tour cars and fire trucks from the Mt. Laurel Police and Fire Departments.

From noon to 2 p.m., visitors can experience baby animals from Paws Discovery Farm, a Garden State Discovery Museum science activity or head through the Kid Fit Gym obstacle course.

Lightbridge Academy will also celebrate Earth Day with seed plantings and bubble themed crafts, Rastelli’s Fresh Food Market and Scotto’s Pizza samplings, tours and technology demonstrations.

Also, through the day, a tuition discount of up to $1200 will be offered to all those who enroll in the academy during the event.

Franchise owners Phillip and Amy Speiser said they were “thrilled” to bring Lightbridge Academy to the area.

The center offers features such as biometric finger scanned entry, cameras in each of the eight classrooms, a multi-purpose room and a securely fenced outdoor learning environment, in addition to internet monitoring that allows parents and extended family to stay connected to their children throughout the day.

Established in 1997, Lightbridge Academy provides early education and child care to children ages six weeks through pre-K, as well as special programming for children up to 10 years of age including back-up care, school holidays, and summer camp.
