The Haddonfield Civic Association (HCA) has announced that Joseph “Joe” Murphy is the 2017 winner of the Driscoll Award. He will be presented the award Thursday, April 27 at the HCA’s annual meeting and town dinner held at Tavistock Country Club.

HCA members and the entire community are invited to attend the
meeting and dinner on April 27.

A long time Haddonfield resident, Murphy has actively volunteered for various civic, arts and educational organizations for more than 20 years. Over the years, he has devoted his time to Borough committees, events and organizations including the Historical Society of Haddonfield, Haddonfield Rotary, Haddonfield Foundation, Haddonfield Business and Professional Association and many more.

Murphy’s extensive work with the Friends of the Indian King and Dance Haddonfield are perhaps his most well-known. As the Founder and President of the Friends of the Indian King, he led the fight to keep the Tavern open when the state threatened to close it and helped lead it to institute such events as the beer tasting and the Revolutionary War skirmish on Kings Highway. As a Founder and leader of Dance Haddonfield, he started the Sunday night dance in 2000 and has worked to keep it part of Haddonfield for 17 years.
