The Medford Library Association releases update on spring programs

A lot will be happening this spring and the library has a few new residents

There is so much going on at the Pinelands Library this spring. Let’s jump right in.

Fond Memories in the Village of Taunton Forge has generously donated a $25 gift certificate for the Adult Reading Raffle basket this month. They specialize in jewelry, handbags, baby gifts, monogramming services and more. If you haven’t been there, stop in April 28 between 4 and 6 p.m. when they will be hosting a “Shop and Donate” evening. A portion of the profits will benefit the Medford Library Association. There will be wine and cheese to enjoy while you shop.

Several months ago, we lost our dear Polly who lived in our aquarium for over two decades. Now we have begun to restock the aquarium. There is a handsome new silver and black guest named Tex and two big, golden beauties who have yet to be named. Won’t you help us by voting for your Favorite Famous Fish Friends? Beginning on May 1 and lasting the whole month, you can vote to choose the names. Here are the choices; Peeta and Katniss from The Hunger Games, Ron and Hermoine of Harry Potter fame, Mickey and Minnie of Disney World, Will Turner and Elizabeth Swan who are our favorite Pirates of the Caribbean, and Anna and Olaf who are Frozen in our hearts.

On Tuesday, May 2, we will be hosting two sessions of “Medicare and You.” One will be at 11 a.m. and the other at 2 p.m. If you are approaching 65, learn what steps you need to take, how Medicare works and what your rights and entitlements are. Also, learn what makes one supplement different from another.

On Wednesday, May 3, at 5:30 p.m., join us for “Page to Pixel: Guardians of the Galaxy.” Long before Chris Pratt donned his headphones, Marvel’s offbeat crew of heroes were having wacky sci-fi adventures. Join us for a discussion, as well as a showing of the first film before its sequel debuts.

On Friday, May 5, at 3:30 p.m., children ages 6 to 12 can join us for Star Wars: Revenge of the Fifth. Belatedly celebrate Star Wars Day with an iPad delivered, big-screen reading of some new Star Wars comic book tales that fill us in on what “Ben” Obi-Wan Kenobi was doing during his time in hiding on Tatooine.

Until next time, keep turning those pages and enjoy the warm weather!
