For those of you who love the crack of the bat and the sounds of opening day, we celebrate with you. It’s officially spring. The taste of sunflower seeds and the smell of the fields is a long lost friend that has recently returned with the change of the seasons.

Some of us who find ourselves in the “adult” club long for the days when we can return to our youth and take one more swing at the ball, fire one more throw down the third base line and hear the umpire declare us “safe.” Well, here is a “happy spring” gift from the Department of Parks & Recreation to you — the Recreation Adult Co-Ed Softball League.

The Moorestown Adult Co-Ed Softball League is a fun and relaxed slow pitch softball league with no umpires — okay, so you’ll have to declare yourself safe. Teams can have up to 10 defensive players on the field and at least three of these players must be women. Women are also required to bat first, fifth and ninth in the batting order and teams will typically play one game per week, although two games in one week is possible.

What better way to spend time with friends you don’t get to see as often? The Adult Co-Ed Softball League is a great bonding opportunity for co-workers, board and committee members, neighbors and any other group of fun-loving adults.

The league will play on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 8 -10 p.m. at the Jeff Young Memorial Fields at the corner of New Albany and Lenola Roads.
