Suspect looks to steal tip jars from local restaurants in latest Mt. Laurel Police Report

The following information is on file with the Mt. Laurel Police Department:

At 1: 52 p.m. on April 4, Mt. Laurel Police say a suspect entered the Asian Chef restaurant at 882 Union Mill Road and stole a tip jar off of the counter.

According to police, the suspect then went next door to Mt. Laurel Bagels and stole the tip jar from there as well.

Police say an employee of Mt. Laurel Bagels then chased the suspect into the establishment’s parking lot.

According to police, the suspect gave the tip jar back and then fled in a red SUV with the previously stolen tip jar.

At 4:16 p.m. on April 6, Mt. Laurel Police responded to the Shoprite on Nixon Drive for a shoplifting report. The investigation led to the arrest of Joseph Keller, age 36, of Camden. He was charged with shoplifting $59.75 worth of merchandise. He also had an outstanding warrant. He was charged with shoplifting and released after he satisfied his warrant.

At 1:16 a.m. on April 6, Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 38 near Union Mill Road. During the stop, officers arrested Joseph T. Rochford, age 29, of West Chester, Pa. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and possession of a hypodermic syringe. He was released pending a court hearing.

At 11:39 p.m. on April 4, Mt. Laurel Police responded to a disturbance at a hotel on the 1100 block of Route 73. During the investigation, officers arrested Joval C. Stilley, age 30, of Philadelphia. He was wanted out of Buck County, Pa. He was charged with being a fugitive from justice and possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana. He was committed to the Burlington County Jail.

At 9:28 p.m. on April 4, Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Hartford Road near Route 38. During the stop, the officer observed a handgun in the glove box when the driver retrieved his documents. The investigation determined the gun was a pellet gun. Officers arrested Nathaniel S. Holmes, age 19, of Williamstown. He was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and released pending a court hearing.

Between April 3 and April 4, someone purposely damaged a vehicle parked in front of the 1800 building of Sedgefield Drive.

On April 3, a victim reported that his credit card was used to rent a hotel room at the Aloft Hotel in Mt. Laurel for several days. The bill totaled more than $1,300. The investigation identified the suspect as Sean C. Cooper, age 24, of Mt. Laurel. Cooper was arrested at the hotel and charged with credit card fraud, credit card theft, theft by deception, and identity theft. He was released pending a court hearing.

On April 4, Mt. Laurel Police responded to Laurel Acres Park for a criminal mischief report. Two soccer nets valued at approximately $600. were purposely cut, rendering them useless.

On April 4, a resident of Everly Court reported that someone put sugar or salt in his vehicle’s gas tank causing damage to the vehicle.

At 2 p.m. on April 2, Mt. Laurel Police responded to Coco Keys Water Park for a theft report. A guest reported her purse was stolen after she left it unattended for approximately 30 minutes. The purse contained credit cards and personal documents.

At 6:16 a.m. on April 2, Mt. Laurel Police responded to a hotel on Sunburst Lane for a dispute. During the investigation, officers arrested Eddie Nieves Jr., age 24, of New York City. He was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and released pending a court hearing.

At 1:03 a.m. on April 2, Mt. Laurel Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Midlantic Drive near Walt Whitman Drive. During the stop, officers arrested Joseph W. Flannery, age 60, of Mt. Laurel. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a court hearing.

Between April 1 and April 2, a van parked at a hotel on the 500 block of Fellowship Road was broken into. A lock on the van was damaged and audio equipment was stolen.

On Aug. 2, Mt. Laurel Police began an investigation into a shoplifting at the Wawa on South Church St. The suspect, who stole cigarettes and energy drink, was identified as Joshua A. Alexander, age 34, of Audubon. A warrant for his arrest was issued charging him with shoplifting. On April 1, Alexander was arrested by the New Jersey State Police. He was turned over to the Mount Laurel Police and then committed to the Burlington County Jail.

On Jan. 24, Mt. Laurel Police responded to Bed Bath and Beyond on Centerton Road for a shoplifting report. A suspect stole a Brevelle Expresso machine valued at $600. The investigation identified the suspect as John E. Lewis Jr. age 45, of Mt. Holly. An arrest warrant charging Lewis with shoplifting was issued. On April 1, Lewis was arrested and committed to the Burlington County Jail.

At 11:49 p.m. on March 31, Mt. Laurel Police located a vehicle reported stolen out of Cherry Hill parked at a hotel on the 600 block of Fellowship Road. Officers were able to locate the operator in one of the hotel rooms and arrested James L. Dellavecchia, age 50, of Oaklyn. He was charged with receiving stolen property and released pending a court hearing.

At 6:45 p.m. on March 31, Mt. Laurel Police responded to a residence on the first block of Broadacre Drive for a narcotics complaint. During the investigation, officers arrested resident Lee E. Raymond, age 55. He was charged with possession of crack cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released pending a court hearing.

On Dec. 19, Mt. Laurel Police conducted an investigation into a vehicle burglary that occurred in the rear parking lot of LA Fitness on Dearborne Circle. The investigation identified Timothy D. Jones, age 35, of East Orange, as the suspect. An arrest warrant was issued charging him with burglary and theft. At 7:30 p.m. on March 31, Jones was arrested by East Orange Police. He was committed to the Essex County Jail.

On March 31, a resident reported that he received a phone call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft. The caller/suspect explained that the victim’s computer was at risk and asked to have remote access to the computer. The victim granted remote access to the suspect and the suspect began to download the victim’s personal information from the computer. The victim immediately disconnected his computer from the internet to stop the download. It is unknown how much personal information the suspect was able to steal.
