In my opinion, I think the [PARCC] test does not suit all students. It’s one standized test, but we have a mixture of learners in the schools — honor students, general learning students and students who need some assistance.

So, how can there be just one test? This isn’t “one size fits all” here.

Now, they are changing the rules for students who graduate after 2020. Up until then, students who don’t pass the PARCC have other alternatives. However, the students that are set to graduate after that won’t. So, what does that mean for my two boys who receive extra help in school? Are you telling me if my kids don’t pass the PARCC, they don’t graduate?

[There is] way too much focus is spent on this test, not to mention it stresses too many people — especially students — out. Your grades should be proof enough to show if you are eligible for graduation or not, not some standardize test that is not suited for all students.

What they should do is have some people from the BOE, teachers, principals, the people who created this test, the person who is demanding our children take this test and some parent volunteers, and have them take the same test as these students and let’s see how well they all do. Now, that would be interesting.
