Burlington County Freeholder Director Bruce Garganio announced that the Freeholder’s next paper shredding event will be held on Saturday, April 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. rain or shine at Rowan College at Burlington County located at 3331 Route 38 in Mt. Laurel.

“We are happy to offer these events for responsible paper disposal, which will help residents reduce the risk of identity theft and continue to expand recycling,” said Director Garganio.

Residents are urged to bring only “confidential” documents for shredding, such as bank and credit card statements, tax returns and papers with account numbers or social security numbers. They will be shredded on-site. The Freeholders ask that no binders, plastic folders, computer disks or plastic credit cards are shredded. Up to four bags or boxes per car will be accepted. Already-shredded paper can also be recycled at this event.

“With volunteers on hand to unload your confidential files, you do not even need to leave the comfort of your vehicle,” Garganio said. “The County continues to be proactive in removing recyclables from our waste stream, and we encourage residents to make use of shred events and all other county services for proper waste disposal.”

Dates and locations for additional shredding events will be announced in the coming weeks.

“Residents are reminded that they can download ‘Recycle Coach,’ an innovative mobile app designed to make recycling even easier. The app allows users to set personal recycling reminders, confirm whether or not an item can be recycled, or report any problems,” Garganio said. “Shred event reminders are also included on the free and easy to use app. To download, go to the iTunes or GooglePlay app store, or if you do not have a smartphone enjoy the desktop friendly version at this link: http://www.co.burlington.nj.us/1602/Recycle-Coach.”

The free event is for Burlington County residents only. ID is required. No businesses, please. For more information call (609) 499–1001 weekdays or email recycle@co.burlington.nj.us.
